Good Samaritan invites you to experience an outdoor Stations of the Cross. The Stations of the Cross (or The Way of the Cross) is a prayerful devotion that recalls the series of events leading up to Jesus’ crucifixion and burial. In the early centuries of the Christian faith, pilgrims to Jerusalem often visited the places connected to the final hours of Jesus’ earthly life.
Over time, Christians unable to make a pilgrimage to Jerusalem developed the practice of recalling those events using images and “stations” to imitate the Jerusalem pilgrimage and to meditate on the final hours and events of Jesus’ life. There are fourteen traditional stations. Eight stations correspond to events found in the Bible, and the remaining six stations are either based on inferences from the Bible or on pious tradition.
This reflective nature walk can be self-led and done in any outdoor location, but for those who would like to experience this with other Good Samaritans in a safe way, we are offering a guided experience, on the following dates and times:
Sunday, March 28 at 1 p.m. at Arbuckle Acres (Adults)
Sunday, March 28 at 4 p.m. at Arbuckle Acres (Adults)
Monday, March 29 at 5:30 p.m. at Washington Township Park (Littles, Kids, & Families)
Tuesday, March 30 at 5:30 p.m. at Arbuckle Acres (Littles, Kids, & Families)
Wednesday, March 31 at 6:30 p.m. at Arbuckle Acres (Explorers, Pathfinders, & Sojourners – drop off event)
Registration and masks for participants 3 and up are required. Each event is limited to 25 individuals. For those wishing to do this on their own, or who have accessibility needs, we will provide the Stations of the Cross reflections maps via email.
