Celebrate Holy Week at Good Samaritan!
Sunday, April 14: Palm Sunday, 10 a.m.: Good Samaritans will gather on the front lawn of Harris Academy (weather permitting) for a festive Palm Sunday procession at the beginning of worship, remembering Jesus’ triumphant arrival in Jerusalem in the week prior to his death. The liturgy includes a congregational reading of the Passion narrative, Holy Communion, and concludes in silence as Holy Week begins.
Thursday, April 18, 7:00 p.m.: Ecumenical Maundy Thursday Worship at Calvary United Methodist Church (575 W. Northfield Dr. Brownsburg, IN 46112). Good Samaritans will gather with our friends at Calvary to remember Jesus’ last commandments that we love and serve each other. The Maundy Thursday liturgy is very moving and includes a celebration of the Lord’s Supper, a ceremonial washing of feet in remembrance of Jesus’ last acts, and a dramatic stripping of the altar. The service ends in silence and darkness.
Friday, April 19, 12:00 noon: Ecumenical Good Friday Worship at Calvary United Methodist Church (575 W. Northfield Dr. Brownsburg, IN 46112). The congregations of Messiah Lutheran Church, Calvary United Methodist Church, and Good Samaritan will gather at noon for a remembrance of our Lord’s death on a Cross. This 45-minute worship includes prayers, solemn remembrances, silence, and concludes in darkness.
