This fall, Good Samaritan is forming a new Going Deeper Group that will have a special focus on Racial Reconciliation, part of Good Sam’s larger strategic work around connecting with our community. Our small group will gather for a season of examination and reflection about our own biases and privileges, particularly focused on race and ethnicity.
We’ll be engaging in an Implicit Bias Training with Peace Learning Center, reading three provocative books, gathering for weekly discussions, and attending a play at the Indiana Repertory Theatre. Along the way, each group member will be invited to design their own “Brave Next Step,” grounded in our faith, to help us widen our circle of experience and to challenge our own biases or prejudices.
While previous experience in a Going Deeper group is helpful, it is not required. We’ll be meeting on six Wednesday evenings, starting on August 29 and finishing on October 10, from 6:30-8:00 p.m. Childcare available by advance request. Want to learn more or sign up?
